New Activities (2008-09 and 2009-10)
To meet the objectives of NRHM there is a need to increase the pool of trained service providers. There is a change in strategy of training, earlier the trainings were conducted at Medical Colleges, now it is proposed that the clinical trainings are to be institutionalised within the system. Hence the divisional level hospitals will be identified as training centres and doctors from Government will be trained as master trainers at Medical colleges, who in turn will train the doctors/para-medical staff at divisional level hospitals. The new activities include initially strengthening of 10 divisional hospitals as Divisional level clinical training centres and training of trainers for various clinical trainings.

Strengthening of 10 Divisional Clinical Training Centres:

During the IFPS phase 1, SIFPSA had been involved in providing various types of clinical trainings to doctors and para-medicals in Public Sector. During these trainings Medical Colleges were involved as training centers.  The medical colleges were provided assistance in terms of strengthening of infrastructure, training materials, printing of training manuals, contractual staff etc.

In order to create a pool of large number of trained service providers in a short period there is shift in training strategy, the trainings are proposed to be conducted at divisional level clinical training centers instead of medical colleges.  However, the medical colleges will be involved in imparting Master Trainers Training to doctors of divisional clinical training centers, who in turn will train doctors and para medicals posted in the districts within the division

To establish divisional level training centers, the districts identified are Allahabed, Azamgarh, Kanpur Nagar, Moradabed, Meerut, Saharanpur, Mirzapur, Agra, Jhansi & Varanasi., remaining 7 will be strengthened through NRHM Budget. Gaps were assessed and strengthening was done in terms of infrastructure, equipments, training materials, audio/video aids etc.

Under the project 10 above stated divisional level hospitals have been fully strengthened and equipped Master trainer training for these 10 DCTC’s for IUCD, LT, AT have been successfully completed. Training of service providers for IUCD, LT, AT have already started.
