Population stabilization coupled with
greater attention to reproductive and child health is
the most challenging task before the state of Uttar Pradesh.
State Innovations in Family Planning Services Project
Agency (SIFPSA), in this context, has been playing a crucial
and significant role to improve the quality and availability
of RCH services both as a catalyst and as a funding agency.
Since the start of activities in the
year 1994,SIFPSA has come a long way,by developing innovative
models, piloting and replicating them and pioneering the
involvement of the private sector in family planning in
U.P.
Major successful innovations of SIFPSA
have been partnerships with private sector including NGOs,
dairy cooperatives, Indigenous System of Medicine Practitioners
(ISMPs), corporate sector, decentralized planning and
implementation of RCH activities through District Action
Plans (DAPs). Performance Based Disbursement System (PBDS)
is yet another unique approach adopted by SIFPSA. In order
to identify the needs, gaps, problem areas and to assess
the key indicators of performance, various studies and
surveys have been conducted from time to time under the
IFPS Project.
SIFPSA today has gained international
acclaim for its innovative interventions and has set standards
for working in the field of social development and RCH
in particular. To allow other individuals and organizations
in the development sector to gain from SIFPSA's experiences,
it has been documenting its innovative strategies, findings
and achievements. Some SIFPSA publications are listed
